The eMapshop is a basic system made up of a table driven menu and a potentially large variety of maps and map files. Some are simple pdf's and use the standard Adobe Reader to render the map on the client's PC, while others are powerful, interactive maps that use ESRI's ArcReader to render the map, it's layers and all the corresponding geographic references.

Once installed there is very little that can go wrong with the system unless someone accidentally erases all or part of the map file.  If a major problem does crop up, then just uninstall it, delete the eMapshop directory from the "program files" where the software is installed and re-install. See our uninstall tips at the bottom of this page.

Here are some common errors:
bulletDuring installation you get an error 2862. This is caused by vestiges of a previous eMapshop install. go the "Program Files" directory and erase the eMapshop directory then try the install again
bulletDuring installation you get this error message: "eMapshop: Unable to create an instance of the DigitalSchoolMaps.
DSMInstaller installer type --> Exception has been thrown by the target of
an invocation --> That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers
." This is because Caspol either wasn't run on this installing client or was run against the wrong servername.
bulletWhen firing up the eMapshop on a client (in a network environment), the system throws up a window that simply says "error occurred". When you click through it, the eMapshop menu appears but it does not have any choices. This is because Caspol either wasn't run on this client or was run against the wrong servername. Caspol must be successful in order for the eMapshop to access the table where all the menu choices are found.
bulletWhen you click to View a menu choice to view a map and nothing happens, that means the map file in the Uploaded Files directory either isn't there or was renamed.
bulletWhen you choose a map and get an error that reads "Error:: Class not registered (exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))". This means that Adobe Reader is not installed on the client PC.
bulletIf you fire up eMapshop for the first time and get this error "Error:: Request for the permission of the type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbPermission, system Data, Version2.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=b77a5c591534e089' " then you are trying to run the eMapshop without .Net2.0 installed.

Uninstall Tips..
The eMapshop install is relatively easy and straightforward, but the uninstall requires a little extra effort. Here are the steps involved:

  1. Use the Uninstall function on the Control Panel (or "programs and features" under the Vista system)  to uninstall the software
  2. Delete the "eMapshop" Directory under c:/program files/
  3. Delete a file called DigitalSchoolMaps.mdb that may be  found on c:/
